This morning as I was eating my breakfast, a dove flew up to our balcony and perched herself on our railing...she, of course, had a tiny branch in her mouth. The first thing I thought of was Noah.....how he must have felt to see the first dove return with an olive branch. The world as Noah knew it had been destroyed, but just as the Lord promised he provided for Noah....the waters were falling! What a beautiful reminder and way to start the day, assured of the hope that we have in Christ.
Well this afternoon, I have discovered that this same dove has made a nest in our hanging basket on our little porch/balcony. The birds around here have loved our plants...this is their normal hangout, mind you. The perfect symbol of hope has literally planted itself right on our doorstep! What a humbling reminder of the hope that we have in a living God. The Lord will provide...He will provide more income, He will provide our next meal, He will provide our families and friends for comfort and support. But most importantly, He provides His love and an eternity with Him. Why should we set our hope in this world? Watch the news for 10 seconds and you will see that there is no "hope" in this world. But God has provided. What an amazing promise!
