Yesterday, we went up to the Choate's house for lunch and an afternoon of Christmas tree hunting! Shawn Choate works at Callaghan with Chris and they go to our church. Shawn and Sherry have 3 really great boys, who are a blast to hang out with!!!
We had a wonderful lunch and then headed into the woods behind their house to find our Christmas trees.....a big one for them and a little one for us!!! We hiked around for a while, seeing all kinds of animal tracks through the evergreens. There was about 6 inches of snow on the ground out there. But, usually there are several feet by this time of year!!! Finally, about a half of a mile in, when found it!!! It was the perfect little tree for our first Christmas tree!!! It was the perfect size for Allie's apartment and was actually quite filled-out compared to all of the other trees out there!!! Once we came to the final verdict of this being our tree, Allie chopped it down!! Since it was beginning to get darker, we carried it out of the woods and back up to the Choate's house, to look for a tree for them closer to the house. It was a wonderful and special experience that we will both always remember!! It was a really cool thing to be able to go into the wilderness and cut down your own Christmas tree!!!
