Last weekend we went to Denver, Colorado to a "Dare to Share" conference with 24 students and other chaperones from the high school youth group at the church that we attend. We traveled 8 hours on a school bus down to Denver on Friday, making it to the opening night. If you have ever been to Christmas Conference/Winter Conference with CCC.....it was very similar. We each roomed up with the students and had a great time hanging out with them and learning what they are going through in life. On Saturday, we had the conference (speakers-even Derwin Grey!, praise and worship, skits, etc) in the morning and into the early afternoon. Then we went out into different parts of the city to collect cans for the Denver Rescue Mission as a way to share the gospel with the people of Denver. Our group broke out into teams of 3/4 and collected lots of cans and shared with a whole neighborhood. We heard some amazing stories of the Lord working in that city!!!! We had another meeting that night to end the conference. We got up early the next morning and drove the 8 hours back to Pinedale!!! All in all, it was a great weekend to get to know some of the kids and even the other adults that go to our church!!! We had a great weekend worshiping the Lord and hanging out with some sweet kids!!!
It is starting to get cooler here now. It has actually been quite "warm" lately diring the day...as in like 50-60 degrees!! But the wind has been whipping, making it feel a little cooler. It has snowed a few days, but hasn't stuck yet.....that will come anyday. The mountain tops are covered, but it hasn't reached the lower elevations yet. Everyone says that usually by this time of year everything is white....but it is coming a little late this year.
Hockey is going really well. I (Allison) am starting to get more comfortable and enjoy it a lot more!!! I have even scored some goals!!! Christopher, of course, loves it and is really really good!! We have a great time out on the ice together!
We are also playing on a co-ed volleyball league....we havent' lost a game yet!!! We have several more weeks left of that. I of course love playing volleyball, and Chris really does too!!! So along with bible study, hockey, and volleyball.....our weeks stay pretty busy!!
This past Friday night, we went to see the "Sound of Music" play here in Pinedale....and it was quite a production!! We were both impressed with the talent and sets, for such a small town!! It was really great...and really long. Mary Margaret, our boss' daughter was Marta, one of the Vantrap children in the play....and she did a great job, so we were happy to be there to support her!!!
All in all, life is good. We are staying out here for Thanksgiving. I (Allison) have never been away from home for Thanksgiving.....so I am kinda sad about that. But, we have been invited by several families to join them in their festivities, which has been really nice. We are really looking forward to coming home for TWO weeks at Christmas....counting down.....30 days from today!!!!
Peace.
