ice hockey

So we are playing ice hockey here in Pinedale, on a co-ed team. Let me just say that Chris is really really good! He played last year on this team, and he played a few years in Raleigh too, when he was a kid. Let me also say that I (Allison) have never played ice hockey in my whole life....I mean I have only been ice skating with cheap, uncomfortable, plastic rental skates for casual skating with friends, I am from the beach. Needless to say, I am not that great! I have been with Chris to a few "stick and puck" nights, where everyone just plays around, like a free-skate with goals set up. Well as time has gone on I have gotten a little better...I have even gotten better at sudden-stopping. Well before our first real practice on Sunday, I was warming up, building up some confidence and decided to practice skating really fast and then making a quick stop. Well let me just say that I landed flat on my butt and then directly on my head...and today I am suffering from whip-lash. You would think that with all of the padding and equipment that you would be invincible....but play for a bit, and your respect for NHL players increases greatly. Quite painful.....but, it is worth it! It is really fun and super great exercise!!! I really enjoy playing with Chris, and especially watching him play!
We practice (scrimmage) twice a week for a couple of hours...and it lasts from now until about April.....so hopefully by the end of the season I will be a pretty decent ice hockey player!!! ooohhh, I did have one assist, to no other than Christopher!!!

Here are some pictures that we took after practice on Sunday....we will post more as the season goes on.

Check out my crucial gloves! They are quite attractive, especially with holes in them! We got 2 helmets and a pair of gloves for me from the "Bread Basket" here in town (aka the Pinedale goodwill) for FIVE DOLLARS!!! You ask "why 2 helmets?", and that is because we needed to by the second one to get some parts off of it for the first/ "better" one. Maybe that is why my head and neck hurt so badly!!???

Allison, you are so cool. I love how you will try anything. I'm trying to be better at that. I recently bought some climbing shoes on sale so I can start rock climbling with Andy more. I am not very good, but once I get over my fear of heights it's fun..and good exercise. I've enjoyed reading your blog! Hope you're doing well.
